Basquiat

from €39.00

The first time I saw Jean-Michel Basquiat’s paintings I remember clearly. I was in Paris at the Pompidou centre where they had a huge retrosective of his work. I wandered around alone for hours absorbed by each piece.

The messages, the modernity the graphics, the colours, his Haitian heritage and his tough start only to go onto date Madonna, and become Andy Warhole’s friend and protegé.

How the art world was touched by his untimely death at only 27 having had such a monumental career. May his light shine on. I hope I have done him justice.

Between you and me his portrait is one of my absolute faves. Modeled here by my daughter Magda.
